Carnival of whites and blacks:
The Carnival of blacks and whites is like the mix of blacks and whites people. The carnival is on 3, 4, 5 and 6 of January. They present coaches, extras, lees and individual disguises, autochthonous and roguish prints. The 5th of January is the day of the black people and the 6th is the day of the white people. In the day of the black people they paint to the other person whit “betun’’ and the day of the white people they paint whit something called “carioca” and this four days always has water. But the year before the policemen says that if the people throw water they will be fined, that was for save the water.
Processions:
The processions of Holy Week of Popayan, celebrated from the epoch of the colony, are one of the most former traditional commemorations of Colombia.
From Tuesday until Saturday previous to the Easter of Resurrection, five processions dedicated to the Virgin Mary take place from eight o'clock in the night, Jesus Christ, the Santa Cruz, the Holy Burial and the Resurrection, which approximately two kilometers cross for the downtown. There is a procession called the “small procession” that is in charge of the kids under the 10 years old. The “small procession” is earlier. There name of the persons that are in the procession are:
-The “Cargueros”
-The “Sahumadoras”
- The “Moqueros”
-The “Sindicos” or “Regidores”
-The choir
-The policemen
-The military band
-One school band
